The rarest rotary Mazda……….is a minibus!?
You read that right! In 1974 Mazda released (in Japan only) the Parkway Rotary 26 Minibus with a 13B rotary unit that came from the RX-3.
- 13B Rotary with a big Hitachi four-barrel carburettor
- 99 kW @ 6500 rpm
- 179 Nm @ 4000 rpm
- 125 km/h maximum speed
- Radio (a luxury for a 1970’s minibus)
- Powerful heaters for those cold winter commutes
- Available in Super-Deluxe (13 seater) or Deluxe (26 seater)
The Parkway 26 was a great minibus, the more popular option at the time was the 2L in-line four petrol engine, 2.5L and a 2.7L diesel engines.
Only 44 examples were made with the 13B Rotary engine.
Today, it is believed less than a handful of the Parkway Rotary 26’s have survived. One can be found in the Mazda Classic Museum in Augsburg, Germany.
Another one is in the Mazda Factory Museum in Hiroshima.
